IndiGo announced it will expand its presence in Malaysia with the launch of new direct flights between Chennai and Penang before the year's end. The India-based budget carrier will also resume flights between Bengaluru and Kuala Lumpur.

From December 21, the India-based budget carrier will start daily flights between Chennai and Penang. The Bengaluru-Kuala Lumpur route will also be resumed on the same day.

With the addition of the Chennai-Penang, and the resumption of the Bengaluru-Kuala Lumpur routes, IndiGo will offer 28 weekly flights between India and three cities in Malaysia – Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi, and Penang.

“This expansion underscores IndiGo's commitment to connecting not just major hubs, but also emerging destinations like Langkawi & Penang, offering options for business as well as leisure,” said Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo.

Penang will be IndiGo's 37th international destination. IndiGo will be the lone airline to offer direct flights on the new route.
